On Tuesday, Dec. 5, thousands of people gathered at Carowinds for the 5th Annual Joy to the Carolinas event. The event, hosted by Coca-Cola Consolidated, the Carolina Panthers and the David and Nicole Tepper Foundation, was a night of fun and giving for families in need from the Charlotte and Rock Hill areas.

Families and children enjoy the festivities

Families enjoyed the festive ambiance and holiday activities at WinterFest, Carowinds’ winter-themed attraction. They also received toys, food, winter coats, shoes and more from generous sponsors and partners. The event featured a live show, with performances by the Panthers TopCats Cheerleaders and PurrCussion drumline, the Coca-Cola Polar Bear, Sir Purr and an introduction of Panthers players.

“What a special night,” said Heather Hucks, the Vice President of Consumer Connections at Coca-Cola Consolidated. “Coca-Cola Consolidated is blessed to bring some extra magic to our community through Joy to the Carolinas. All three of our organizations are grateful to be able to spread joy year-round, but the holidays – and this event – allow us another way to work together to serve our community.”

Families were selected by local nonprofits and community organizations that work with Coca-Cola Consolidated, the Carolina Panthers and the David and Nicole Tepper Foundation throughout the year.

Charlotte Mayor, Vi Lyles, and her family attended as well to volunteer and spread joy.

“The Panthers and Coca-Cola Consolidated came out to serve our community to make sure that every kid that comes out tonight has something to have joy in,” said Lyles.
