Expanded Capabilities to Enhance Efficiency and Offer Training through New Technical Academy
CHARLOTTE, NC, May 8, 2025 – Coca-Cola Consolidated announced today the $15 million expansion of its Regional Operations Center in Monroe, NC. The expansion includes a new 42,000 square foot warehouse to enhance service efficiency for customers and house the Coca-Cola Consolidated Technical Academy – its new technical training academy.
This is the first expansion of the Monroe facility since 2006 when it was transformed from a warehouse distribution center into an equipment services warehouse for remanufacturing. The expansion will include expanded work centers and facility updates, featuring new wash bays, seating areas, a paint booth and roofing.
The facility handles 10,000 to 12,000 equipment conversions annually and the new space allows Teammates to service different models of equipment used in convenience stores and grocery stores, such as coolers, vendors and fountain equipment. While the number is expected to remain the same with the expansion, the additional space and automation capabilities allow for more efficient operations and the potential for future growth – a 5-7 percent annual increase in equipment conversions.
In addition, this expansion supports growth, bringing more jobs to Monroe and a focus on training and developing top talent through the Coca-Cola Consolidated Technical Academy. The Academy will offer trade school-like training and certifications for technicians in various trades such as refrigeration, electrical work and plumbing.
The Monroe facility also demonstrates a commitment to safety and sustainability. As an OSHA SHARP-certified site, the facility upholds the highest standards in workplace safety and health. Environmentally, the facility leads with sustainable practices including the use of energy-efficient LED lighting, advanced air compressors and a zero-waste operation.
“The investment we’ve made here at our Monroe campus is evidence of our focus on making major advances in our infrastructure to support future growth,” said Jed Thomas, SVP of Equipment Services at Coca-Cola Consolidated. “The expansion and technical training academy will not only benefit our customers and Teammates but also the community by way of economic growth.”
Coca-Cola Consolidated has done business in Monroe since 1996. The campus is home to more than 75 Coca-Cola Consolidated Teammates. Beyond Monroe, Coca-Cola Consolidated has more than 4,000 Teammates serving more than 27,200 customers across North Carolina and the Monroe campus is one of 13 Coca-Cola Consolidated facilities in the area.
