Raised by a mining family in Western Pennsylvania, Joe Betts is no stranger to hard work and dedication. Joe has been a Coca-Cola Consolidated Teammate since 1997, when he was first hired at Coke Consolidated’s Warehouse in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Since joining the team, he’s embodied the spirit of stewardship and worked in many roles. He started as a Swing Merchandiser before earning his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and pivoting to work as a Full-Service Delivery Driver. After several years, he was promoted to his first supervisor role for full-service drivers and has never looked back, working as an Inventory Specialist and Supervisor prior to being hired as a Warehouse Manager.

Thanks to his earlier experience, Joe is well prepared to keep a Coke Consolidated warehouse running smoothly. In a nearly three-decade career, he’s gained experience in nearly every part of warehouse operations, making him a uniquely qualified Teammate.

“It’s important to me because if the warehouse does not succeed, then it affects the rest of the Company,” Joe explained.

Joe is family-oriented and highlights his father as his greatest inspiration in life. His father was a coal miner, who taught him at a young age that a little bit of hard work goes a long way. He believes that if his dad could go into a strenuous job like mining every day, then none of the challenges and learning experiences he’s had at Coke Consolidated could be that bad.

“Coca-Cola Consolidated is a great company to build a career with. If you work hard and learn from the leaders in place you will succeed in all you apply yourself in.”

More than being family man, Joe has a servant’s heart. When asked about his experience as a Warehouse Manager, he showed nothing but appreciation for the Teammates who report to him. He works hard to pass on everything he’s learned in his career to the next generation to continue the success of the Company and he shows gratitude for the leaders that he learned from.
